The Contract Packaging Association's RFQ allows anyone needing a contract packager the opportunity to request information about a CPA member company’s services, including packaging capabilities and service costs. Submissions will be sent to member companies accepting RFQs. Member Companies will examine your needs and will contact you directly about their packaging services and capabilities.
Remember, leaving any field blank WILL lessen your chance for response. When submitting this RFQ, please provide as much information as you can. What you provide allows the CPA members to determine if they can work with you to accomplish your goal.
To help increase your chances for response, please follow these suggestions when filling out the fields below in the RFQ form:
Fields 1-6: Make sure to include your Company Name, your Contact Name, your Title, and a way to contacted (email/phone number). This contact info is vital.
Field 7: Brief Description of Project – This field is important! Simply, provide details about your project to the best of your knowledge. Is your product to be packaged a beverage, a food product, a pharmaceutical or nutraceutical, a beauty product, an electronic product, etc.? Do you envision bottles (glass or plastic), boxes, cans, pouches, clamshell packaging, etc.? Do you envision an automated packaging line or will your packaging be handled by people, etc.? You can give an example of a product already on the market. For instance you package looks like _________. The more details about your project that you provide, the better the understanding of what you are needing.
Field 8: Type of Product – While providing a description of your project, don’t forget to include the type of product (not type of package) in this field. Is your product food (solid or liquid), beverage (non-alcoholic/alcoholic, carbonated/non-carbonated), a personal care item, a pharmaceutical item? Be specific as to the type of product you are packaging.
Field 9: Packaging Services Needed – You may not know this! But don’t leave this field blank. Simply state that you’re not sure what packaging service you need for the type of product your looking to package. It doesn’t hurt to say that you’re looking for guidance in this particular area. Remember, your requests are going to experts; they’ll be able to help you if you’re unsure. Leaving this field blank will result in an assumption that you DON’T NEED PACKAGING SERVICES! If you do know what package service you need, make sure to include this in this field. The more details, the better!
Field 10: Approximate Size of Order – While approximate, if you have an idea of volume to be packaged, make sure you include this. This can be in quantity, weight, etc. However, merely stating ‘minimum’ or ‘maximum’ without numbers in this field, doesn’t’ provide enough information. Include a number, even if approximate. For instance: “I’m packaging 10,000 widgets.” “I’m packaging 10,000 gallons of…” “I’m packaging 10,000 pounds of…” to start with, with the desire to grow more in the future.
Field 11: Describe Any Restrictions – If you have deadlines, include them. If you know of any possible state regulations, include them. If you have any questions about possible restrictions to the product you’re packaging, ask the question here. Please be aware that restricting geographically may not be important, and may diminish the number of replies you receive.
